'On the Way to Barcelona'

I went to Spain, France, and Italy as a Student Ambassador back in 2001. It was a great experience and now, years later, I'm getting my lazy ass around to scanning the pictures and using them for something other than collecting dust.

This photo was taken somewhere between Madrid and Zaragoza on our way to Barcelona. It was only my fourth day in Europe. I was somewhat dissapointed that Spain looked so much like back home in Eastern Washington, but the little towns and old forts and castles littering the countryside made it infinately better. I could easily live in a place like this; enough like home to be comforting to a farmgirl like me, but enough of the exotic and mystery of the past to keep me eternally mystified.

As for the photo itself, it was minorly edited in photoshop to take away some of the super-saturation from the original photo and to make it look a tad 'older'... now its more appropriate to what my memory of the place was, but it's still the photograph I took as an ignorant seventeen-year-old.
